In an era where natural and man-made disasters pose an increasing threat, the need for well-trained emergency responders has never been greater. Traditional training methods often rely on classroom instruction and live drills, which can be costly, time-consuming, and lack realism. There is an urgent need for innovative solutions that enhance emergency response skills while ensuring safety during training.
This is where the EU project "ViRaLes: Virtual Reality Immersive Learning for Emergency Services" comes in. ViRaLes aims to revolutionize vocational training for firefighters and emergency responders by integrating Virtual Reality (VR) technology, thus significantly improving the skills of emergency responders across Europe to help them manage emergencies safely and efficiently.
Together with our partners Ovar Forma – Ensino e Formação (Portugal), Frederick University (Cyprus), Inquirium LTD (Cyprus), and LARES Italia – Unione Nazionale Laureati Esperti in Protezione Civile (Italy), we are providing an immersive, interactive, and cost-effective training tool, making high-quality emergency response training more accessible and efficient. It also equips VET trainers with the knowledge to use the VR Training Tool and its automated assessment features, fostering the exchange of best practices across Europe.
By using VR technology, ViRaLes sets a new standard for emergency services training, contributing to the European Year of Skills and aligning with key EU priorities in digital transformation and innovation in VET.
