ANKER - arrive, familiarize, experience
Arriving, familiarizing and experiencing is the aim of the ANKER project. With the creation of afternoon offers at primary and secondary schools in the Gießen district, we would like to give refugee Ukrainian children and youngsters a bit of lightheartedness back. A first important step towards normality and integration is going to school, which is also characterized by challenges. Be it for the Ukrainian children and youths or for the schools that lack additional capacities to be able to respond to the special needs of the target group. Here we would like to support and supplement the regular offer of the schools with specific learning, social and playful offers for the target group within the framework of the afternoon care.

The offer includes various modules for different age groups and interests, such as games and sports, art and crafts, culture and excursions, gardening, gaming and a mentoring program. In addition, regional cultural attractions and association work in Germany will be presented. The children and youngsters receive language sensitive educational support in all modules. As the project name already conveys, the offers should be an anchor for the children and youths and ensure that they arrive, feel comfortable, get to know each other and, above all, experience new and positive adventures.
